the nose looks great, you sure did a beautiful job with it.....well done Isaac.



But the big question is whether the nose will be the same color as the model itself?
If the nose supposed to be with a different color, like black, white or something else, then it would be great, but if the nose supposed to be with the same color as the body, then I think it's a bit problematic.

Even if the nose is colored with silver, there will still be differences in coloring, because the texture of the color on a paper is different from a silver color that is painted separately on a body made of other material.



But I hope I am wrong and the result will be different.

They don't need to be the same color as Issac has already mentioned that the exact match to the paper is not critical since the real aircraft had this nose separate from the fuselage and some operational aircraft may have even had different shades of grey as well.

The sections making up the fuselage are relatively simple. All except the extreme nose and tail tip are cylinders and cones.


I tend to round the parts on this wood tool an old friend of mine made for me.



center section is a long cylinder. At this point, I did not cut out the opening for the cockpit and the landing gear bay. That will be done a bit later.


lay out the sections, but do not glue to each other yet.




Gluing the sections aft going forward.



Note: The seams for all the parts are on the bottom here! Why? Why? Why? I just don't understand it when the upper portion from the canopy aft is all faired in and there is a vertical tail that could cover all the seams if they were on top.



Now dry fit all the sections.


These sections should not be glued yet until the cockpit, landing gear bays and speed brake housing are completed and then installed at their openings.

I'm back after a couple of weeks of intense time consuming radio controlled model flying ( my other passion among others ).

The Yak 25 has a bicycle landing gear ( or tandem gear system ). The main load carrying gear was in the back and is large to accommodate a double wheel arrangement.

The laser cut frames accessory that I purchased has numerous parts that go into this build. Some are very intricate and I would never begin to cut those by hand otherwise.

Hi Isaac - realy like the nose job you did with the Yak. As other already said it looks far better than the petals . Because of the wing mounted engines the Yak resembles me slightly the french Vautour if we excludes the deeper and biggsr Vautour body profile. It is nice to have such rare fighter planes for paper modelers.

Yes, the layout of the wings and engines are similar.

Both had a bicycle landing gears and a center bay to hold bombs and equipment.

Later on everyone found that placing both engines next to each other in the fuselage was a better arrangement

This is a two seat tandem arrangement cockpit. You need to build most of it short of all the parts that extend above the opening ( those can be added later on ).

Here is the open cockpit being built in stages. Notice that the laser frames has some parts that are used in the cockpit as well ( sort of like photo etching parts on plastic models ).

The cockpit will then be inserted into the fuselage section later on.

Before connecting all the fuselage sections, we need to remove all the areas to be cut out for the cockpit , landing gear and speed brakes. My method is to join the circular section to itself and make sure it is rounded properly. Then, I insert a large diameter dowel inside and use it as a cutting board while selecting a fresh #11 blade to cut out the white sections. Some builders prefer to cut it out while flat. Your choice.

Note : The main aft landing gear opening leaves a very small strip and as I found out later on, it was torn off and lost. I will fix it once the assembly is further along. For now it is not a major issue, but the designer should have thought about it and maybe have a separate strip to be added later on.
