Engine nacelles
The engine nacelle parts are left and right handed, so make sure not to mix the parts.
Here are the parts. inlet and exhaust are built notice the small cardstock ring for the inlet. Really, how do you cut it with a knife that thin ? I used the laser cut frames, but really I think this part is not needed. I also used Yoav's method of super glue coating the round cylinders with a temporary inner frame to keep them round. forward and aft sections assembled now they are ready and dry fit to the wing. Looks good. Isaac

Yak-25M and Vautour comparison
I was asked to compare the Soviet Yak 25M to the French So 4050 Vautour.
Both aircraft are from the same era and both had similar missions of a strike fighter ( the Vautour was more like a jet bomber than an interceptor though ). The length was similar, but the wingspan on the Yak was shorter. Also the Yak had a much larger radar since it was mainly an interceptor. Later variants of the Yak were varied and had a long service life, while the Vautour was obsolete by the late 1960's and was relegated to ground attack, bomber, night fighter and reconnaissance missions and those also came to an end soon after in the 1970's. As far as the engine arrangement, both had a shoulder wing configuration and the engines were slung under the wings approx 1/3 span out. Both aircraft used a bicycle landing gear configuration with outer stabilizing gear struts and small wheels. The Yak housed those struts in the wingtips, while the Vautour incorporated into the engine nacelles which made the nacelles bigger in diameter. Here is the Yak 25M as is currently built next to my completed Vautour I finished years ago. It was enlarge from 1/50 scale to 1/33 scale. ( Vautour IIA repaint -IAF colors in 1/33 scale ). Both models are in 1/33 scale. Side by side views exhaust/rear wing view Vautour and Yak Inlet/wing view Vautour Yak and finally the underside. Once completed, I will pose the Yak-25M and the Vautour again. Isaac

Hi Isaac - both the Yak and Vautour are conremporaries and therefore many details are looking similar. However we can see that the Vautour wing span is greater and so the engine nacelles. Also the engine positioning related to wing is different - in the Vautour it is symmetric while in the Yak the engine nacelle is shifted forward .
All in all my personal opinion is that in a beauty contest the Vautour will win because of it's more elegant and streamlined shape ( in the best french tradition ). Yair |

Nice work on the engines Isaac.
in regards with that 2 twin engine jets. the Vautour looks much more beautiful, more classic and more elegant than the Yak. YOAV |

The nacelles fit very nice and tight to the wings. They look great. Nice work.
I do have to agree with Yoav, the Vautour is a more beautiful aircraft. Gary

Thank you guys.
I too agree that the Vautour is the more elegant of the two planes. One thing about the Soviet designs is that they were functional and looks was completely ignored. Isaac

I guess that it doesn't have to look good if it gets the job done. That being said there are a lot of elegant soviet jets. Gary
