Exclamation Cockpit installation

The cockpit assembly is slipped thru the forward opening of the cylindrical fuselage section. Once dry fit, apply glue to the sides and press into place. The aft small flap can then be glued to the rear opening and is just edge glued.

Exclamation Landing gear bays installation

The gear bays are ready to install.

The rear one first. Notice the small strip missing at the edge? It was just too thin and will be replaced later on.

The forward gear bay is partially inserted aft portion first..

The center section will be joined to the nose section which has the forward half of the cut out.

Cool Nose section to center section joining

At this point, add the center section forward round frame with an appropriate cut out for the gear bay at that position
Yak-25M ( twin engine jet ) GPM #546-img_9387.jpg

and then add the two sub assemblies.

The forward landing gear bay should fit nicely now.

Exclamation Rear fuselage cut outs

There are two speed brakes bays as well as a circular port at the bottom that need to be cut out.
Yak-25M ( twin engine jet ) GPM #546-img_9391.jpgYak-25M ( twin engine jet ) GPM #546-img_9392.jpg

There is also a small cut out on top for some sort of a port, but that will be addressed later on.

and now dry fit the two fuselage sub assemblies

Cool

Thank you Yoav, Gary, This model is a joy to build. Yes, I am modifying some parts and commenting on the design, but so far it is coming along great.

This project however is competing for my attention as Radio Controlled airplanes are finally back in my interest after many many years

Exclamation Aft fuselage work

A few things to do before we join the aft to the forward fuselage.

Speed brake bays should be installed now as access to the back is easier thru the opening in the open fuselage.

Also, there is a circular port on the bottom. I could not find out which part goes on the inside. It is covered with clear plastic.

The extreme tail tip is made up of two half shells

Cool Fuselage is joined

Now the final step to join the forward and aft fuselage sub assemblies. Since they are circular, the fit went great. The fuselage is really long, care is needed to make sure it is all straight. I also used Tamiya low tack yellow tape to hold the sections while the glue is in its initial drying period.

Notice the size of this model! It is a bit over 18 inches ( 46 cm ) long without the tail so far.
Yak-25M ( twin engine jet ) GPM #546-img_9404.jpg

again, note the small strip missing aft the main landing gear section. It was so thin that I could not keep it together. It will be repaired later on.
