1/33 AT-6C-10-NT Texan
Today I started another aircraft in 1/33 scale.
This is a model I received one year ago, on my 71st birthday, from Dave Winfield. Here's some first steps, everything goes really well, textures are beautiful and parts fit very nicely.

Looks like another excellent project. I am eager to see you build this one and will be watching closely.
I have always liked the T-6. In the mid-1950s I lived near a civilian aviation mechanic serving with the Maryland Air National Guard. The 104th Fighter Squadron (Fighting Orioles), 75th Fighter Wing, was based at Harbor Field (now long gone) in downtown Baltimore. I used to accompany him to work and spend the day looking at airplanes, including watching the ANG pilots shooting landings in T-6s and F-51H and Ks. Sometimes I sat in the cockpit of one of the T-6s. Dave Winfield kindly produced a model of a 1950s MD-ANG T-6. What is the paper type and weight? and what type of printing? ... I will be looking forward to the final photos. Maybe I can update the cover with something?

I'm sure you'll produce another fine model Zenon. From what I can make out it looks like a nicely designed and detailed kit.

It's laser printed on coated paper(something like the paper used in Halinski's older models). I can't remember the weight but I'll try to find this information and let you know. But now, when I build this Texan I know I've chosen a bit too thick paper. Your last question is a question to me or a rhetorical one? I don't really get it. What do you mean exactly? More progress on AT-6:

It's looking good, Zenon, and seeing your model come together makes me eager to get started on my own T-6.
It really looks good in natural aluminum with the olive drab cowling and black anti-glare panel and markings as a classic USAAF wartime trainer. This particular aircraft (42-43925) was assigned to the 66th Air Base Squadron at Luke Field, Glendale, Arizona, and used to train pilots between 1943 and 1945. According to Joe Baugher, this aircraft survived all its trainee pilots and in 1950 was remanufactured as a T-6G. 1942 USAAF Serial Numbers (42-39758 to 42-50026) Don Image source: https://www.luke.af.mil/News/Article...n-the-mission/ |
