A-5C Fantan hobby model 1:48

One of my last projects is the A-5C Fantan which was developed in China as an attack plane from the Chinese mig -19. The mig shape was heavily reworked in the process but I will elaborate later on specific details.

Fantastic build. I didn't know that Hobby Model did this kit. Very nice colour scheme too.

Those highly contrasting camouflage hues are quite disruptive visually.

Very interesting subject and excellent build.Good looking model.

This plane is a very good example of successful conversion of 1950s dragster to fast pick-up truck(even if outdated one).Stahlhart Papercraft has this plane in about 10 liveries and once in a while I'm thinking about enlarging one of them a bit.

Yair

Nice job on an old Hobby Model kit. And you scaled it down as well.

This is what the Mig-19 should have looked. The long air duct from the nose inlet caused engine operability issues on the Mig-19. A dedicated side inlet was better.

Thanks

Isaac

Mig-17 also had this arrangement tested with no luck. Wasn't there prototype of Mig-19 with those as well?

Butelczynski - The origin of the Mig- 19 was USSR and there were several prototypes with rocket boosters , air intake with cone but not side intakes.
Only in China this configuration was developed along some special Mig -19 trainer version with a back sitter in tandem
that was only produced in China.
