A very nice result for your labour, when sourcing suture materials, you could get them more cheaply or free if you ask at the local hospital, vets or medical practice for stock that has gone past its use by date. If you explain what it is for they may be helpful. Silk would be the best material because it has a decent coating that may help with UV exposure but there is a very wide variety of thread size available. A long time since I have handled this material.

An interesting note (at least according to Wikipedia): A total of three S-40's were built, then a few years upgraded to S-40A's by swapping out the engines for smaller more powerful ones, and removing the landing gear.

Time to show the works on the last week.
I installed the undercarriage legs on place, first with PVA glue after dry i made a reinforcement with CA glue...        After I started the rigging, like a struts, is a very complex task, because all command cables are exposed too, I not found good plans of S-40 show the rigging, I use photographs from real plane and few models made on plastic or wood for reference. At the time the process is focused in the wing (not finished yet)      Today I resume the work...

Very nice Pericles, seems I still have time to finish that REA Model A van for you.
Sorry I didn't get to it today, for some reason I really really wanted a pre-1933 Model A coupe, and both Patrick's ZZTop and Ray's haunted car models are newer. I ended up kitbashing the van using Ron Kemp's hot rod as a guide, so now I have a 1930 Sports coupe with a soft top. Like Patrick I opted not to taper the rear end so design and construction are simpler. Unfortunately I still haven't heard from anyone who knows how to contact Michael Zinke so I can share these.

Since I have not done any historical homework on this bird, I am going to ask what will probably be a dumb question. The rectangles on the leading edge of the wing - are they view ports for inspecting the internal structure or are they physical open/close ports for controlling wing loading?

I think they're just black squares painted on the wing. Possibly marking access panels or something. Every pic I could find makes them look 2-Dimensional.
 I noticed they're too far forward on the model and already moved them back.
