Photo 1: Here's the completed port side fairing and a photo of the bottom. They actually look pretty good. Kudos to AirDave for this. He did a great on the design and a nice build thread. Not too worried about the small gap on the top of the fairing (where it meets the fuselage). Dave kindly provided a small rivet trim strip that runs along the top edge of the fairing. I'll ad that in a bit.

there is no "heater jacket" on a Harvard...I explained the exhaust in my design and build thread.

Harvards have a full large exhaust pipe, that runs down the fuselage,
unlike Texans which only have a short "spout".
Inside that big exhaust Pipe, ipasses a smaller pipe...completely open at the front to allow air in (like a pitot tube).
The air passes through the pipe and into the cabin, like a direct ram-air vent.

Since the tube is inside the exhaust pipe, it gets hot, so the air passing through it, is heated before it enters the cabin.

The smaller pipe is just too small for this paper model.
It would be 1/16" to 1/8" diameter!
The builder could make up a pipe from dowel, or plastic rod, and insert it through the Exhaust pipe and into the side of the fuselage?
But thats too small of a detail for me to include.

Very well done Gary.Part well resolved, as Isaac says this part draws attention, if we do it well it adds quality to the model.But if we do not achieve a good result, it subtracts a lot.Great job Gary.

Since Isaac mentioned it, I figured that I'll show the exhaust pipe next.


Photo 1: I've cut out the first few parts.


Photo 2 & 3: Here's a couple of photos of the assembled exhaust. I ran a bead of glue around the joins to try and make it look welded. For now I've left the assembled parts d & e unattached so that when I attached the exhaust to the aircraft, I can align everything nicely.

Starting the propeller, I have cut out and rolled parts 35 and 37. I rolled the around toothpicks. As you can see in the photo I've used the toothpick to align the crankcase to the engine former too. Next, I'm now going to drill a hole into the prop hub part 35, and assemble the blades onto the toothpicks.

Continuing to follow AirDave's build thread, I've managed to get the propeller fully assembled. I did add one small extra, I cut out an additional part 37 (prop spinner) and cut it short to use behind the propeller as a prop shaft.
