Ki-76 1/350 scale

Hi gang,

A very quick design and build, an evenings work. This is the K1 76 fromt the recent Akitsumaru kit from Paper Model Shop. As supplied, the aircraft is in simple 2D format, but with some quick rearanging and a couple of extra parts, becomes a nice 3D effect.

This will look good on the flight deck when I get around to it.

Looks marvelous, similar to an Auster or Storch to my mind.

That's just plain crazy-I like it.

I looked up few drawing of this plane-it's definitely very influenced by Storch and in some ways it looks like it might have inspired Russian Yak-12 after the war. It's a possibility since Russians got their hands on a lot of Japanese planes in Manchuria and Korea.

That's crazy small! The strut work and propeller must be about the width of a cat whisker. I hope you don't lose it before building its ship shaped display base, LOL.

Outstanding!

I am in awe of your skill, Bernie. I hope you will build Akitsushima-maru to provide a suitable base for this superb little model.

Thank you very much chaps! After looking up on the interweb, it does look like a Storch. I have spent a couple of days editing the the PDF's of the ship, getting rid of some of the (to my mind) obtrusive fold lines and the simplified details. This is a very approachable kit (as are the whole series), but, you know me, I like to add extra bits to enhance the base model. So, should get them printed tomorrow and we'll see whats what.
P.S. that's two builds going at the moment, fun fun fun!

Amazing work.

What's more, we do not see Ki-76 very often so thanks for posting this one.

1/350? Shock and awe cardist! How on earth did you pull off the rounded fuselage contours?
