Gary Pilsworth's YFM-1
Hi: wanted to share a couple of pictures of the YFM-1, which is a free download from this site. I just finished this nice little model . . . and you can't beat the price! I scaled it down from 1/48 to 1/72. I did cheat a little but on the cannons by using plastic sprue . . . the paper roll up cannons just wouldn't work or look good.
I posed it with some of John Dell's figures and a plastic model of a P-36, just to add some atmosphere. I always thought this was a cool aircraft and always wanted one . . . but didn't want to pay a bunch of money for a plastic kit. |

You did a great job. Nice with the figures too.

Nice build. And yes, we certainly can't complain about the price of Mr Pilsworth's models!

One of these days, I've got to get this model and hopefully put it together a well as you did. If the model comes with the 2d flats I'll try to get a photo of my father when he was a 2nd Louie in 1940 and try to find out the hull number of the one he flew. My father was one of the most accomplished men I ever knew; I'm just sad it took until he wass dying from cancer for me to wake up to how formidable he actually was.

Wow, that is interesting about your father. If you look on youtube they have several videos of the aircraft taking off, flying around and landing, maybe he is in one of them. They didn't make very many of them so you have a good chance of narrowing down the serial number of his aircraft. Unfortunately, the 2d figures do not come with the model . . . I borrowed them from several B-17 models by John Dell. (Ecard.models used to have a free set of about 13 figures from him . . . I bet if you contact him by E-mail (he is a member of this forum) he could provide them to you. I have exchanged E-mails with him a few times and he is super nice!
