Cool sneak peak

I wanted to see what it would look like with the wing surfaces, so here it is posed ( but not glued ).

Exclamation Cockpit

I decided to build my model with the canopy in the closed position. Due to the very small windows, most of the internal detail will not be seen. I will build the bare minimum.

First, I want to bring to your attention the small surface tear on the left side of the cockpit opening. This was due to me over aggressively trying to clean that surface and pulled the skin off. However, the repair is easy and I will show it soon after.

Insert the soft cockpit tub in folded configuration thru the opening

Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9839.jpgTsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9840.jpg

unfold and glue the edges to the inner fuselage openings
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9841.jpg

add the simple seat
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9843.jpg

install it , the instrument panel and the control stick

Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9844.jpgTsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9845.jpg

That is all. Any more detail will not be seen in a closed canopy configuration.

Notice that in the closed canopy configuration, there is no need for the actuator or the opening behind the seat. It will not be seen.

Exclamation Canopy

Like many high speed research aircraft, the windows were relatively small.

Here the canopy parts. The clear transparencies are all flat plates.

inside. Do not over work it. It will not be seen. It is used to support the clear parts.

Great assembly up here, the fuselage looks very straight. The canopy from here practically does not let see the interior, as you say it is not worth detailing the interior.

Thanks guys

Other than the size, there is nothing complicated with this model.

It is certainly an eye catcher.

If you have the space, I would recommend building it. You can hang it on the wall as well.

Exclamation Upper fuselage fairing

There is a very long fairing going from aft of the canopy all the way to the vertical tail. It is comprised of 3 major sections.

Here are the first two sections section:

there is an internal frame to keep the long sections straight.

Glued in place ( yellow Tamiya tape is used temporarily; remove with care )

The fairings have straight sides. Here they are formed between two wood blocks

the last part of the fairing is the rear. It will also support the vertical fin.

Fairing all done.

Exclamation Skid fairing

The aircraft has a combination tandem landing gear system in which the forward assembly consist of a retractable landing skid having detachable double wheels which are jettisoned on take off.

The skid will be build later on with the other wheels. For now here is the lower fairing assembly

There is an internal frame that is very much needed to form the part and also support the model later on.

Exclamation Vertical fin

The vertical fin is a simple design consisting of an inner core frame with a dowel for position and strength
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9884.jpg

and a one piece fold over skin
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9885.jpg

assembled
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9886.jpg

for now it is dry fitted.
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9887.jpgTsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9888.jpg

The fit is good despite my less than perfect upper fairing and rear ( the model is mostly white, so everything shows up ).

Note:
I will glue it and the horizontal surfaces after the wing is done and attached to the fuselage to prevent handling damage.
