Cool Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale

I have downloaded MaksArt model of this unusual research aircraft ( Tsybin NM-1 ). Same designer as some of my previous builds of the Yak 19, 25, 30 ist generation as well as the Yak 1000. I decided to build this one as it is relatively simple, yet impressive. I have other models to build, but most are more complicated, and just coming off the YAK 25M build, I needed a brain rest.

Apparently the model was built and a quick blurb was posted with a link to You Tube, but that is gone. This is of the Extra Model printed kit which I think is the MaksArt version repainted.

Also, there is thread on the 1/100 scale Odball version which is similar, but different build.

Yes, it will be a long airplane model. But relatively short wings.

Isaac,

Did you use the Japanese extra white paper to print on? I'm assuming it's metric dimension paper?

Thanks,
Gary

Yes, I use the Japanese A4 paper since the kit is designed to use all the length.

Same paper I always use for my digital file printing.

In case you wish to purchase it, here is my previous thread on that topic:
A4 card stock in the USA

It is available in the USA and Canada as well

Cool Wing tip engine concepts

The Tsybin aircraft here was intended as a supersonic ( mach 3 really ) aircraft. Of interest is that the engines were podded on the wing tips ( or very near the tips ) as in a few other concept planes of the period such as :

Avro 730

French Trident

German VTOL aircraft VJ 101

and to a lesser degree a Bristol 188

While installation of the engines on the wing tips is relatively simple, I am sure that there are other complications, most noteably is the one engine out especially on take off.

More info on the aircraft:

Anyhow, all fun stuff

Very interesting, thanks for the information. Align such an extensive fuselage, let's hope it does not get complicated.

I may need to make some sort of a jig to keep the fuselage straight

Exclamation The kit

The kit consists of 20 pages total that break down as follows:

1 cover page
2 info pages in Russian
4 sketches and views/instructions
3 frame pages
9 part pages
1 back page with photos of completed model and a listing of MaksArt previous kits

Here are some representative pages.

Note:

Printing must be on A-4 paper in order for the large parts to fit at this scale ( parts and frames only; the rest can be omitted or printed on any size and used for reference only).

also

I used 160 gr paper, however in hindsight because of the super big pieces for the fuselage, A heavier paper is better in my opinion.

Available in Canada you say? Please let me know a source in Canada to try. Shipping from the USA was going to be $100 US for one package of paper.

Looks like a great model - will be watching your work with interest.

John
