Exclamation Fuselage center section

The main center section is a very long skinny cylinder. There is also a section long part that is a shallow conical/cylinder aft of this section, but that's later.

First, lets build the internal long frame.

here is the skin

Notice to the designer"
The axial seam for this kit is on the bottom of which half will be visible. Why not put the seam on top where it will be covered up by the top fairing that extends from the cockpit to the tail? This way, it is a cleaner design.

Next is the rounding of this long tubular section

Dilemma is how to glue such a long tube to itself and have a clean seam.

My solution:
lightly glue the axial glue tab to a long wood dowel

Here is my dowel which I purchased while living in Tokyo Japan ( the equivalent price of approx $10USD at the time).

edge is glued
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9799.jpg

now it is easy to roll the part and glue a nice long seam.

Once connected, quickly remove ( un glue ) from the dowel ( I needed a thin flat stick to help the removal from the dowel.

Great job Isaac. I like the recommendation of putting the tube seam at the top.

Looking at the tube, there also appears to be a panel line going around the tube (about 1/3 the way down). Would it make it easier to glue if the tube was made into 2 tubes (cutting at the panel line)? Just an observation for modellers like myself with less advanced skill set.

Thanks,
Gary

Since the part is cylindrical, you can easily cut it yourself and assemble the two into one cylinder.

All sort of options.

Wing frame to fuselage check

At this point, I wanted to make sure that the large card stock flat frames can go thru the fuselage cut out.

Do not glue. It is only a check to make sure that the slots are aligned

Exclamation Center fuselage section-aft

The second half of the center fuselage is the rear shallow angle long cone. It is assembled the same as the previous cylinder
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9806.jpg
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9807.jpg

Note to the designer:
The rendering of the rivets do not match on the bottom even though the part is glued correctly. This has happened before on the forward fuselage parts.

Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9809.jpgTsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9810.jpg

Next step is to assemble this section to the forward cylindrical center section
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9811.jpg

I don't think the small glue tabs are strong enough for such a long model. It will be re enforced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool Quick look

Here are the main fuselage sections
The wing structure is on only for dry fit. Do not glue yet.

Will join the nose to the forward center and then the rear to the rear center conical sections first and then the forward and aft parts.

Exclamation Nose to center section joint

The nose section sub assembly is glued to the center fuselage at the cockpit opening. Do not insert the cockpit tub yet. You need the opening to insert fingers in to press the sections together for gluing.
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9818.jpg

Then add an inside cardstock strip to re enforce that joint.

Cool Join fuselage halves

Now we are ready to join the forward to the aft fuselage half.

The small glue tabs in back of the center sections are too small and thus too weak to support the full fuselage especially at this phase before the upper , lower fairings and the wings are glued on.

so

I inserted and glued four wood toothpicks into the round frames and then glued it all together.

Looks straight ( I am surprised a bit given the length of over 80 cm )

Exclamation Wings internal support

The wing has very large flat interlocking internal frame. There are inner and outer ribs at each end ( the outer ribs will be installed later to prevent handling damage ).

Here it is dry fitted to the fuselage.
Tsybin NM-1 MaksArt model in 1/33 scale-img_9833.jpg

The fit is great, but because the fuselage is so thin, I will re enforce it later using wood dowel going thru to prevent the wings from flopping down.
