I can't imagine landing a aircraft of that size on only a skid. It's glide rate had to be horrendous. With the fuselage extending so far back of the wing it would be impossible to nose up at touchdown... and how do you stop this thing!

Pretty interesting (low quality) film of it taking off, in-flight and landing here on YouTube.

Since this was only an experimental proof of concept plane, it did not fly often enough to need a fully functioning wheeled landing gear. The video on you tube shows it taking off flying and landing nicely. Isaac

landing gear
Here is the main landing gear.
The skid ( I added wood inside for strength ) wheels are laminated card discs shaped painted add hubs added my own wood dowel struts and attached to the plane. Next are the outboard struts. Taking a long road trip and will not post progress for about two weeks. Isaac

Side skids
There are short outrigger struts under the engine to support the plane due to its tandem landing gear arrangement.
Basically those are metal skis that grind into the runway on landing to prevent an engine strike. The pad were replaceable. Since this was a short lived program, there was no great concern to make it operational or efficient. Isaac

That's an amazing aircraft, Isaac. Would the original have been painted white, or left natural aluminum?
Thanks, Gary
