Waco EQC-6 or Waco Cabin in 1/100 scale by Lfluente
Hello my friends!
Time to show a test build about this interesting subject the Waco EQC-6 or Waco Cabin, a bush plane of 1930's. Lorenzo (Lfluente) made a kitbash on DGA Broussard to made a EQC-6, is a unique biplane aircraft, I believe tonight or tomorrow I end the test. Model need a minor adjusts to release... |

I've really lucked out with test builders, and would like to thank both Tim and Pericles for volunteering!
The model represents the only WACo EQC-6 NPC-1 flown by the Philippine Aerial Taxi Company (PATCO), based on 2 photos I managed to find. It's a bit odd that PATCO had 4 UKC variants but none have online photos. I've taken some artistic license as the only photo with visible registration codes show NP-1 when it would normally be written as NPC-1 - it could be that NP-1 was temporarily applied. Anyway, I need some help from forum gurus - I found a black and white photo of WACo YQC-6 NC-15705 in Civil Air Patrol/Coastal Patrol markings and need to identify the overall color. I realize it's next to impossible to know for sure, but I'm hoping for plausibility. One of my sources suggest WW2 CAP aircraft were yellow, but in the photo the white triangle of the CP logo seems to match the overall color. Subjectively the color doesn't seem cold enough to be white and doesn't have the variable shading of silver, but seems to be a warmer shade. Apparently cream was also a common color, and would make sense if it was a civilian volunteer's own aircraft. It would also be really helpful if someone could supply the RGB values for any or all of these colors. Last edited by lfuente; 07-26-2019 at 08:29 PM. |

Another Golden Age beauty. Reminds of the Howard Mr Mulligan racer.

Test finished
Need small adjusts to release, mainly in undercarriage, this model is not totally in 1/100 scale (maybe 1/90) I made another version in exact 1/100, and with build I made a photo guide for Lorenzo make instructions, but in the next week... |

That was super fast Pericles, thanks a lot! The scale should be 1/72 if printed 1 page per A4 sheet, 1/102 if printed 2 pages per A4 sheet.
Maybe if you didn't have to move house you could have finished it overnight (hahaha). This reminds me a lot of the Beech Staggerwing, due to the chunky fuselage - I remember looking at 3-views of other WACo variants and several gave me the same impression. Many years ago I built a balsa rubber-powered WACo SRE and it had a sleeker fuselage, which may have been what I expected. Anyway, I'll wait for your list of things to correct and improve - it looks like the cowl could be made a bit smaller, and the landing strut angle more vertical. Then I'll work on the 2 other recolors I have planned. |
