Cold war missiles

In the interest of furthering my Cold War experiences collection, has anyone ever seen models of the Rapier, Bloodhound, Corporal, or Thor Missiles and their launchers? I know they were all available at some time in plastic, but I've never seen any of them in paper or card. So much easier to rescale card, ennit?

Recalling a Thor test launch at the Hebrides Missile Range ... the whole area went on lockdown for a day until after they successfully launched it. We all had to stay indoors as no one could be sure it wouldn't blow up on launching, or where it would land if it actually flew. Needless to say, us pongos were "safely" tucked out of sight on our workshop roof, watching the whole fiasco unfold. Fortunately it successfully flew off to drop in the sea near St. Kilda. There were a lot of 'observer' ships out there who must have had their fingers crossed that it didn't come too close.

The Rapier crews always deployed several heavy machine guns when live firing ... 'cos it wasn't rare for a rogue missile to turn back on the launcher, and the old point five was man enough to knock it out.

Well, I've had an enjoyable read right through Jan's 'Missile Garden' ... Some nice models of the Thor, but of course not with RAF markings, and even Jan resorted to plastic for the launcher. I didn't know there were so many variants of the rocket either, but then again I only ever saw one, and that was a couple of miles away.

Little mention of the Corporal, but it seems that wasn't much more than a V2 with bits added on. Plenty of modifiable V2s around I guess.

Rapier and Bloodhound were anti-aircraft missiles, not ICBMs so I guess outside of Jan's zone of interest, but this ground-based grunt saw a lot of them on RAF bases as well as on the missile range.

The advantage of missiles and rockets is their "simple" form. They are usually tubes and truncated cones. So designing them becomes somewhat easier.
perhaps a little tutorial might be in place.
Oh... I have to go to work again tomorrow

As well as the Boss (Bruno), TigerTony has expressed an interest and requested pictures, so there could be developments on this.

Corporal misile

Cororal launcher

Thor (Not many pics available of the RAF ones.

Bloodhound

Rapier These were also mounted on a tracked chassis, but I only saw them towed around by FC 101 Land Rovers.

Rapier tug ... LR 101 FC.

Eric Truax did 3 versions of the Thor (USAF, Model 101 XSM-75, and RAF) but I can't find a working link. Even the Wayback Machine comes up dry.

Eric's Thor was a great model. I still have it (the file anyway). The local museum here has one out front along with an Atlas-D and a Blue Scout.
