Isaac,
It's too bad about the wing centre section. Maybe a spray coating on the card prior to cut and assembly might help prevent the glue from soaking into the card stock.

You're still doing a great job, especially considering it's a hand drawn model.

To my eyes, everything looks really good so far, Isaac.
I'll be waiting for more.

Lovely build going on there. I first got hooked by paper models with the Wilhelmshavener brand back in the mid-80s. I still have a few unbuilt hidden somewhere. Keep on keepin' on - I love what you have done so far.

Exclamation Outer wings-part 1

The outer wings are simple one piece wrap around with an inner spar and wing rib.

Here is the wing
WHV Nord Noratlas-img_0459.jpg
WHV Nord Noratlas-img_0460.jpg

Note : my model was printed on bad paper that I must have had for years and is incompatible with the Aleenes' glue ( who knew ). So the lesson learned again is don't waste your time with cheap or old card stock. Anyhow, this is only a test build.

Here is the attachment point of the wing to the boom
WHV Nord Noratlas-img_0461.jpg

ready the parts
WHV Nord Noratlas-img_0466.jpgWHV Nord Noratlas-img_0467.jpg

I added a wood dowel going thru the wing center section spar for support. In my opinion it is needed for both strength and alignment.

WHV Nord Noratlas-img_0468.jpg
WHV Nord Noratlas-img_0469.jpg

insert the spar/rib into the wing for dry fit only
WHV Nord Noratlas-img_0471.jpg

Cut a hole in the ribs for the wood dowel
WHV Nord Noratlas-img_0470.jpg

and now the wing is dry fit to the boom.

Exclamation Wings on-part 2

At this point, the outer wing spar is glued to the center spar/wood dowel and aligned correctly.

the wings are now glued to the booms.

Here it is:

It's coming out really nicely.I see we are using the same technique with wooden chopstick for a spar.I use to do it a lot but since my models are smaller recently I use paper tube rolled and glued on various diameter dowels/wires.Square spars from kit are good but sometimes they need extra support inside-paper tube is perfect solution for me.

Cool Semi finished-end of this build

At this point, the Noratlas build is done for two reasons:
1- I only intended this to be a test build ( like a Beta build ) and the challenges have all been encountered so far.
2- I am departing back home soon and intend to leave this model with my son.
and 3 - as they say "what goes on in Vegas, stays in Vegas" So this model was built in Vegas and now will stay in Vegas

Here are the pictures of the semi finished model.

Exclamation Some touch ups

I decided to silver mark the areas needed to be done as well as the repair test patches.

I may add the propellers when I return.
