I built mine exactly the way you're doing it, but only after following the instructions and having godawful looking joints. This is the best pic I have of my model. (The other one is more focused but it's a nose shot not a broadside.)

I printed this first at 100% on my laser printer, only to notice that it trimmed a few corners )-=
I also tried printing it at 125% on 11"X17", but since I don't have cardstock in that size, I'm not sure regular paper would stand up for the skin at that scale.
So it looks like 97% on my regular printer is the closest I'm going to get for this model.
And I'll be adding gluetabs to smooth the seams.

Since I'm using a black and white printer, guess I'll be making a Newsreel version of the Hindenburg!

Cheers,

John Gay

Becky, thanks for sharing that picture. It proves that this model is buildable, although really difficult in my opinion. It's just not the greatest design and parts don't fit properly... Like I said, you need to put a lot of effort to achieve a good result.

Today I finished the whole rear part of this airship. The very end of it is painted aluminum for now but probably I'll find a better paint tomorrow.

You said formers are too large by few mm-you meant diameter or radius(średnica czy promień)? More or less that would make them about 5-7% too large-would that be correct?

Are diameters of parts matching or are they also mismatched?Looking at pictures they are also not so good.

I meant diameter when I was reffering to formers. I'm not sure about percents but if you reduce diameters of formers by 1.5-2mm you'll certainly have less work. That's for sure.
Your second question, about parts diameters. You mean those of fabric covering? Well, they're not perfect. Some fit great, some are slightly smaller or bigger but this is not a huge problem. You can adjust them quite easily.

Honestly, even with all its flaws, it's worth to build this kit because it's uncensored and has quite accurate colors.

Like always, I'll put a wood varnish on it at the end, so it should look way better with a little glossy surface.

The most difficult part of this model has been finished.
It's quite huge right now.

There're not too many parts left.
Propellers are not included but I'll make them from scratch.

Thumbs up

That is looking really really nice. Can't wait for all the little parts to go on.

Gondola is in place.
Be aware of this: floor provided in the kit is way too small. I had to enlarge it and make some adjustments.
