Alan Rose's Hindenburg kit from the "Build Your Own Hindenburg' kit is also very nice. There is always at least one on ebay….

The Allen Rose Hindenburg is indeed very nice. Yet, when I built it, the Nazi symbol on the tail was overwhelming. I also remember needing a long reach within the hull to ensure the nose was properly affixed !

As I was , at the time, working on "The Gummi Bears" at Disney TV the craft was renamed the Gummiburg and a portrait of Gruffi Gummy, in a circle, replaced the swastika. She then floated over my animation desk for several years at Disney...

there are some very detailed technical drawings at 1:200 scale available in .jpg and vector .pdf format at -
Airship Drawings by David Fowler
After looking these over extensively, even considering if I could make a flying scale model but being told that it'd need to be closer to 1:40 scale to fly, I'm now considering making a 1:200 scale from these drawings, but using lasercut basla for the main rings and balsa stringers for the longitudinal girders and that wrapped with doped tissue just like the old tissue and stick planes.

Don't know if I'll get past the "thinking about it" stage, but that is where I am now.

I'm also working on this paper version. There are quite a few fit issues even with the main body. But I persevere.

Cheers,

John Gay

This model has actually more than a few fit issues... It really requires a lot of work.

I've just finished the dorsal and ventral fins with rudders.

Lateral fins and elevators are done.
Looks like we're close to the end...
However, there're still few things to do, for example: engines and landing gear.

I can almost hear the roar of those DB 602's!

Wiki has this interesting size comparison with a 747, A380, An-225 and the Spruce Goose:

I've posted the same picture, but in a higher resolution, on the second page.

Anyway, D-LZ129 Hindenburg is finished.

Just got to the middle segment 8a, and its quite a bit smaller than segment 7a it's supposed to line up with.
So I'm just going to call it a day on this model and concentrate on the balsa and tissue one instead.
I think I'll try making one main ring from 1/16" balsa stringers to see if it's stronger than I think it'll be.
If I do continue the basal build, is that paper enough to share a build thread?
