D-LZ129 Hindenburg
Few days ago this thing had come to my mind and I thought it could be a good idea to find and build a model of it. D-LZ129 Hindenburg... I think everyone knows less or more about this famous German airship.
The model I've chosen was designed by Bryan Tan in scale 1/477 and it's available for free here: https://www.deviantart.com/rocketman...odel-312181994 To my eyes it looks really good on paper and seems to be a nice design. I especially like the fact it portrays Hindenburg from 1937, when the disaster at NAS Lakehurst happened... I hope to make a small "work-in-progress" update later today.

Even in this scale the finished model is going to be over 20 inches in length. Good luck Kacper.

Model will be indeed quite huge, even in 1/477 scale. As you already said Garry, it's 20 inches long(51cm). Hindenburg(being 245m long and having diameter of 41.2m) was basically the largest flying machine ever built. I've found two real photos where the impressive size of this airship is clearly visible. Take a look.
And as I promised, here's also a small "work-in-progress" update. I spent whole day on the internal frames. Lot of gluing and cutting. Not to mention the pain in the fingers. All pages with the internal frames were printed on normal paper and then glued on 1mm cardboard. I've noticed in the instruction, that the author suggests to use "flat joint" method for segments. It's not a good idea because it doesn't guarantee smooth surface. I'll have to make joiner stripes and use only half of the internal frames.

I have the Graft Zeppelin DL-Z127 printed at 1/700 scale for more than a year, I'll follow yours to see how it goes

I have this model saved for I don't know how long. Some day I will build it,question is where will it find permanent home.I can't house it so I was thinking about taking it to my welding shop and hang it there but swastikas might give people wrong ideas. These days showing Finnish marked aircraft is iffy.
Cool to see it being build. I'm wondering-do you think Japan would build a licenced one if Hindenburg didn't burn? How would it be marked and called? |

Hang it at work and I'll wager no-one says a thing about the swastikas. But they may think Karol is a megalomaniac and is building a giant dirigible at home to conquer the world......

There was a free 1:200 Lz129 Hindenberg model available a while ago.
It was on a site: https://amod.estranky.cz/ (Alin Models) - the download links are dead because the files were on a now-defunct domain zshare.net. Perhaps someone has these in their stash - the model was in three parts. Regards, Charlie |

Found it - I had it stashed on an old hard drive. Anyone want a copy of Alin Models 1:200 Lz 129 Hindenberg contact me via PM. The file is BIG - so the download will have to be via Dropbox or similar.
