Master Cafe (into his myriad of A-4's) has 1/200 Skyhawk VMA-214 Blacksheeps in 1/200. I upscaled John McCain's Skyhawk to 1/100 with no problem.Still left is the loaned F4F Wildcats but must be a simple or normal scheme. Only wish to know numerals of units. Best Regards,Tony.

We know the serial number of at least one VMF-214 F4F-4, BuNo 12068, that crash landed on Guadalcanal on 14 March 1943 and the remains of which still exist at the Vilu Air Museum on Guadalcanal: https://www.pacificwrecks.com/aircraft/f4f/12068.html

Unfortunately, none of the images of that aircraft that I have seen show the number, if any, painted on the side of the fuselage. In the late 1942-early 1943 period, Navy and Marine F4Fs usually had a number, sometimes preceded by the letter "F," in black or white on the rear fuselage.

Rick - I haven't had a chance to check for paper models of VMF-214 F9Fs, F2Hs, and FJ-2s already available in the squadron markings, but it looks like John Bowden has you covered for those. He knows more about 1950s-60s USMC aircraft and markings than I do in any event.

Don

As I like very much Marines aircrafts, and Rickstef's idea seems very fine to me I decided to build VMA-214 apparatus in 1/100 scale. VMA-214 is taking shape in my desk. Grumman F4F-3 and F4F-4, Vought F4U-3 from WW2, Vought F4U-5 and Grumman F9F-3 Panther from Korea War until now. When complete, I upload them as a bundle into the Downloads section. Regards,Tony.

Rick, I've already repainted one of Bruno's F4F's. If you want a particular VMF-214 one done shouldn't be a stretch for me. 1/100 of course but you've indicated scale is not an issue.

A quick Google search says VMF-214 fley FJ-4 Furies. I have a model of an FJ-4 that needs a repaint, so I'll look into what markings it needs. I can also mod my F2H2 Banshee into an F2H4, depending on what's needed, and do a repaint of that one.

The squadron is growing: Vought F4-U5 from Korea War is finished, FJ-4 Fury and A-4M Skyhawk are waiting for their landing gears. AV-8B Harrier is in pieces. F2H Banshee is in recolor process. Regards,Tony.

WIP from the AV-8B Harrier II +. As usual, only S&P, has a model from this specific variant. Recently, during researching this thread, I read that VMA-214 is going to migrate to the F-35 Lightning II in the 2021 year. I realized that the Harriers has more than 30 years of service; so now must to build the F-35 in 1/100 scale. By the way: No S&P model available not even in the range of $1 dollar list. Only 1/33 kits. Best Regards,Tony.

i appreciate the work you are doing Tony, scale is not an issue, so if any other designer has a F-35 at any scale, maybe he would allow a repaint
