1/477 Pre-war DC-3 KLM

Today I did a small resize and recolor of Bruno's DC-3.
As some of you know, I've just finished a D-LZ129 Hindenburg in 1/477 scale.
I thought it would be an interesting idea to build the iconic airliner from 1930s in the same scale to show the impressive size of German airship.
I've repainted the DC-3 into a pre-war KLM livery which matches perfectly to a 1936-1937 period(Hindenburg disaster happend in 1937).

You know what? Looks like this model can't be built in this scale. Built nicely.
I finished it in maybe 70% but it looked awful.

Hi All,

PacificWind, if you used forced perspective in your intended display, you might be able to build your DC-3 a bit bigger. Say, 1/476?

I think it is amazing you got as good a result as you did, simply fantastic skill you have.

I think a model so small as this one requires much thinner paper than what you normally would use. Perhaps normal copying paper, or even the cheaper variant, which seems to be even thinner. Wouldn't that give better results?
I tried this with small aircraft, that I used to accompany a model of an aircraft carrier, scale 1 : 300, and the first try was on light matt high resolution paper, and even that was too thick. Then I used normal copying paper and that worked good.

I used a thinner paper. The one I use for most of my models would not allow me to reach the point I reached.
Here, the scale was the biggest problem. DC-3 is not a huge aircraft and in 1/477 it's incredibly tiny...
All those parts are just too small to manipulate comfortably and precisely.

It's not my first DC-3 from free S&P package. I did one in 1/160(perfect scale for Bruno's free S&P model; came out excellent) and one in 1/100(a little too simplified for this scale; average result)
