I break out in a cold sweat at the very thought of such things.

2 more P-36 done some time ago.I had to wait for decent light for pictures (short day, must be winter coming).
Both enlarged to full page and like previous one are somewhere between 1:50 and 1:72 scale.Chinese one with solid undercarriage needs negs shortened significantly.Look up drawings online for guidance.Judging by pictures props included with kit are of more or less correct shape except they are too short by maybe 10-15% I'm guessing.Next P-36 will get revised prop. Super kits.I did each one in about a day between housework.More Hawks from this series will follow. |

Very nicely done. Does the green one represent a Cyclone nose versus the twin wasp of the other one?

VERY nicely done Karol. I was a bit worried how the landing gear fairings on Chennault's Hawk would go but you've shown with a bit of work all is good.

Rata-that landing gear is just fine,it's only leg part that has to be trimmed about a half.If you want to be really detailed that gear might be a tad too large, maybe 2-5% but that's just a guess and error this small is irrelevant. You did some cool work there and I'm enjoying it A LOT. |

Thanks Karol. Designed is the thing. Unfortunately at this point I can only kit-bash other people's creations and hope it sorta looks like the full size.

Is it possible to cross-kit? Murph's Twin-Wasp P-36 nose and cowling look reasonably accurate to my untrained eye? I remember once, as a teenage model builder in the 50s, welding a Monogram 1/72nd P-36 cowling onto an Airfix Bf-109E just to see how it would look.

Murph's P-36 has very good cowling for Twin Wasp.In a way it's better than one on much more complicated model from Answer.
To convert it to Wright Cyclone part of fuselage forward of cockpit has to be redesigned. If Aaron is ever interested I can supply more drawings. |

Here is Brents recolor of Nobi Fiat G.50
Not easy model. One on pictures is third take but it does come out good looking when you get it right. My model is about 4-5 inch wingspan.I enlarged it to full page. Hopefully this set of recolors will find its way back to ecard catalogue. It's really good set.I will continue with Hawks later on. |
