F105D Thud 1/100 by S&P

As previously "teased" here is the actual build of a keeper F105 designed by Bruno as one of his earlier aircraft. Very cool color scheme and tactical markings, no landing gear or stores.
The F105 thunderchief or "thud", was a mach 2 fighter-bomber operational in the late 1958. It could carry a bigger bomb load than a B-17 and could carry a nuke in its internal bomb bay. It came to life in Viet Nam was primarily used as an attack aircraft but they did account for 27 or so kills. One of the origins of its nickname thud was the sound it made when it crashed landed.
The kit had a few fuselage errors that made for a banana shape instead of the coke bottle design. I filed down the offending parts and made them fit, but took notes to modify the offending parts to fit. I tweaked a few other things, designed landing gear and built up the stores. Here is an overview of the kaos that is my craft table....

Here is a close up of the landing gear, they are missing the support struts that will be added when fitted to the model...

The rudder was a plain affair so the various antennae bulges were separated then burnished to give a more 3d effect...

Thanks Ray. I rolled the fuselage parts to fit. I usually don't use the attached tabs. they create unsightly bulges. I do use them between fuselage sections, separated from the parent part then used to join the segments. Here are most of the parts, rolled out and formed waiting for things to come together... you can see the mk 1 version in the backround...

It's a Scissors & Planes kit- #601 and is available via direct purchase from the designer for a ridiculously cheap US$1.
You'll need to have a Paypal a/c and send a Private Message (on this site) to forum member scissorsandplanes (Bruno) and he will look after you from there.

Please do not attach the middle section to the others the way it is laid down on the picture

Looking very nice, especially the undercarriage.

Guys, thanks. Bruno, maybe that's why I fudged up the mk1!. Rata, maybe in 100 years my skills with a computer might allow me to make a 105G, a wild weasel would be great but now I'm in the gifted amateur stage. next up wings...
