Aircraft of French-Thai War of 1940
Friends!
Enthusiastic about the thread: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/a...armistice.html p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 115%; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; }a:link { color: rgb(0, 0, 128); text-decoration: underline; } I decided to make an effort that was an old dream of building a 1/100 scale sub-collection of the 1940-1941 Franco-Thai War aircraft, this was motivated by the research that friend Don Boose conducted in this post: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/686690-post15656.html This theme is is facinating, my intent is make some french and thai aircraft of this period (1937 - 1942), few are papermodels like Hawk 75N, Nakajima Ki-27 and Curiss Hawk II from Thailand, for French except Potez 540 from Bruno many are need repaint. I focused at the time in Japan thai planes, make a repaint of Ki-21 and working a Ki-30... The first plane I have finished is Curtiss Hawk 75N from Royal Thailand Air Force, this version is a more simple version of Curtiss P-36 with Cyclone engine and fixed undercarriage, is a delight to build a jewel from Thaipaperwork... Soon I build Ki-21... |

This is a wonderful project!
I will be following with very great interest. What a great pleasure it is to see my modest research efforts being turned into paper models and these historic aircraft being preserved in paper. Don |

Thank you friends!
It is indeed a fascinating project. With many challenges around. After assembling these two, my focus should be on building a Potez XXV in the appropriate colors and building on Bruno's Potez 540 with some registers and insignias. Later I must convert and repaint the B-10 on the Martin 139WS (I need to look at some details like engines and some minor details). From the French side Morane Saulnier MS-406 the new Potez 63 from Bruno, Tiger Moth, should appear in the coming months, there are good model options to repaint. Loire 130, I have an asset, a model that I started building from a 1/200. Other French aircraft that are more complicated like the CAMS 37 and 55 airboats and the GL-830 seaplane. On the Thai side there are two difficult aircraft, one is the Curtiss Hawk III which unfortunately has no electronic kit (I'm studying if I repaint and convert the Curtiss BFC I have from Answer) and the conversion to V-93S from Bruno's O2U kit since It is a widely modified aircraft. Excellent project.I was going to make a simpler recolor of the same Ki-30,someday I'll do it.
That war had some far reaching consequences in that part of the world, most of N.Americans never even heard of it never mind understood what was that about. I'm looking forward to continuation. |

Potez 25 and 540
Very nice!
So I am not alone in searching this ignotus conflict! As you mention Bruno has already the Potez 540 operating in Indochine, and the Potez 25 is a relatively easy recolor. There is a lot more information on these planes in Indochina than in Levant. For example there are at least two schemes for the 25, one with white and red strips around the fuselage. Looking forward for your models! |
