Macchi M.5 1/48th Paper Model by Marek's Models
All,
Here is my latest paper model and it's a real cute one. I modified it a bit as the lettering on the fuselage as printed is apparently nonsense in Italian so I repainted the aft section and hand-drew the correct lettering. It looks a little rough, but the pictures of the real plane are similar!  Besides the lettering, I think the N-struts for the engine mount are too high in the kit (or I printed something wrong!) as when I tried to add the top wing, my outboard V-struts were short. So I just made new slightly longer ones from balsa. When I look at photos, my wing is too high, but the model doesn't look stupid or top-heavy so I'm fine with it. Just don't tell anyone... I used 1/32nd sheet balsa for all the formers and plane shapes etc. and it's rigged with EZ-Line elastic thread. The gun barrels are hypo-needles. I also added some wire to the engine mount to make it a bit more robust. A really pretty and colorful addition to the paper air force!
