Saab 35 vs Mirage IIIc - Swiss Airforce

In the early 1960s the Swiss airforce was looking for an interceptor capable of mach 2.0 flying. The 4 types that participated were the F-104 Starfighter English electric Lightning Saab 35 Draken and Mirage IIIc .
The two first were found not fit with the Swiss airforce needs.
That left the Draken and Mirage to compete. At the end the Mirage won because of his better ability to operate from a small unprepared air fields and the rest is history.
As history proved the better plane won.
In the IAF the Mirage had 390 kills while the Draken never fired in anger.

Saab 35 vs Mirage IIIC vs BAE Lightning

If we compare the trio the Lightning fall first because of the very short range and being such a complex and heavy maintainance
plane. The Saab and Mirage are very close in terms of performance but somehow it is the Mirage that has the upper hand as it is the more all rounder
here as history proved with no less than 394 Arab planes mostly Mig -21's that were shoot down and the world highest score in flying jets Giora Apshtien who had 17 kills while flying the Mirage !!!
I pose the repainted Mirage of Mali and the Saab 35 and Lightning of WHM side by side in 1:48 scale.

WIREANDPAPER -thanks ! I needn to see how I am printing the TSMC on A3 pages with
150 percent upscale from 1:72 to 1:48.

Mike -thanks ! the Draken is a very good looking plane because of it's double delta wing shape.
