Looks great. Too bad all that nice cockpit detail will be mostly covered up, but as you say, at least you know it's there.

Thanks, Don. You are correct...I just closed her up tonight and not much is visible, but more than I actually thought would be!

I got most of the basic fuselage structure in place. It's kind of wavy in places and not perfect, but it does look surprisingly ok. Not quite Ricardo or Isaac-esque! I think next time I'll make a balsa backing for the outside skin and just make my own formers and put it together like my flying models. Oh, well...live and learn.

Overall, it's ok. Now I will make the rear cockpit decking, the cockpit edging and the gun next. Coming along!

Cheers,
Dan

Can't see any wavy surface Dan, looks very good! Wherever possible I double the skin on the inside to make the fuselage stiffer and the surface smoother. And use acetate glue, this is water free, which also prevents surface irregularities.

Cheers,
Erik

Thanks, Erik. That's a good idea. I'll go look for some of that soon. I think mine is still water-based...

Just don't look too close! It sure doesn't look like your Hurri or Ju-88...

All,

Making that gun was lots of fun...but installing it was a real pain the neck. I needed to modify the opening in multiple places to finally make it look ok. Well...at least it's ready to go hunting!

More soon...Cheers,
Dan

Your efforts paid off Dan- looks convincing. Though the hunting trip might be best postponed till the wings go on!

A tiny update: Got the coaming and rear cockpit decking in place. Looks pretty slick. Next will be the tails (I think) or the cowling which looks like a tricky (for me) edge build. We'll see!

Cheers,
Dan

This build proves to this geezer that you're never to old to learn new tricks.
Bravo!
