Panther vs Ouragan

Dear All - the two had a lot in conmon- both served as bomber fighters - the Panther in Korea and the Ouragan in Kadesh operation and six day war. Both proved to be sturdy planes that could get damage and return to base or carier in the Panther case.
Both proved the ability to kill mig's the Panther 9 mig 15's in Korea and the Ouragan 1 mig -15 in Kadesh and 1 mig 21!!! in Six day war.
The Ouragan served till 1973 in the IAF while the Panther was phased out of servise from 1956 on.

The models are from Ecardnodels for the Panther and Yoav Hozmi for the upgrade of the IAF magazine Ouragan.
Both in 1:48 scale.

F -9F Panther vs Mystere II

While the Mystere is faster slightly and has a better climb rate we can compare between the two because the Panther allready killed 9 Mig 15 which roughly had the Mystere II performance.

F-9F Panther vs Mig 15

The Panther was an inferior plane in compare to the Mig -15.
It was always a taught by many that only the Sabre F-86 could handel the mig -15 however only this year a story of a Panther pilot was released to the public as he shootdown 4 Mig -15 during 1 mission !!!
This is a proof that sometimes the level of the pilot is more important that the outright performance of the types involved !!!
In Vietnam a Skyraider shoot down mig -17
In the Six day war Israelian Ouragan pilot killed Mig -21 and in the Indo Pakistani clash in 1965 a Mystere IV shoot down F-104 Starfighter !!!

We have read several times how something inferior manages to defeat something superior. Many times skill and ingenuity overcomes superiority. All your threads have these very interesting stories Yair. And the models are great!

Dear Sergio - the mirage 3c and the mig 21 f13 were mostly even with small advantages to each one - the mirage had a smoother handling and better guns the mig had better acceleration and climb rate.
The kill ratio was 1:15 only because of the better training of the Israelian pilots which were trained heavily in demo dogfights to put the piper of the head up display 2 seconds continuously on target to give a short burst of the 2x30mm guns which was good enough for a kill !!!
