Super -Tiger vs Super Etendard

Both are Super but in a different way !
The Tiger had a strong J79 engine that gave him top mach 2.04 performance while the Etendard relayed more on sleek lines and low drag to be in the 1.3 mach zone but all this without an afterburner !!!
Because of good design of wings the Etendard lift is 20 k feet per min !!! which is much better than the Tiger without an afterburner . In low level both are almost even with a very small advantage in power reserve to the Tiger. Lets not forget that the Etendard is 15 years younger in design and that's a whole lot of time.
Both have almost similar dimentions of length and width and it is very hard to say who is the preety one among the two.
Scale is always 1:48 and the Etendard is from Fly - Model while the Tiger from Stalhart .

Great !! The Super Etendard was important for my country in the Falklands, and who knows what would have happened if more Exocet missiles were available at that time. Thank you Yair!

Super Etendard

Dear Sergio - the Super Etendard is the Argentinian hero of the Falkland war with it's deadly Exocet missile.
Also I like it's French typical smooth lines in the best French tradition !

Super -Tiger vs Mirage F-1

The Super Tiger first flight was in 1958 while the Mirage in 1966 and it took 7 years until it was interduced to service in 1973.
At that time 8 years difference was very big gap. While the engine of both is about 7.2 ton thrust the aerodynamic design of the mirage gave him a clear advantage in performance and more modern weapon systems ! While the Super Tiger speed is mach 2.04 the F1 is mach 2.25 and the climb also better at 40 k f per min vs 30.
So the more modern plane won here !!!

Super -Tiger vs SU-9 FISHPOT

The two are from the same era of late 1950s. The performance of mach 2.0 and 30 k feet per min in climb rate and carry 4 air to air IR seeking missiles the Super retained it's 4x20 mm canons while the SU-9 is without guns.
The engines are J79 for the Tiger and AL- 7 for the SU-9.
The J79 is by far the better engine of the two with better technology and economy !!!
The service carrier of the SU-9 in former USSR was not long and a better version named SU-11 was interduced to service but was not produced in big numbers - served until early 80's and was never exported out of former USSR.
As for the models the SU-9 is from hobby model and the Super Tiger from Stalhart and both models reduced to 1:48 scale.
