Thank you Ray, Pericles and Asaf. I'm thinking of doing another biplane soon (once I get my hands on some EZ-line for rigging), as I'm really enjoying building this one. In addition to reading Rickenbacker's book, I just saw "Valor" on Prime - biographical documentary on Kiffen Rockwell, another famous WWI American flyer - so I'm pumped on this period of history at the moment.

The Lloyd is all done. Since the last installment, the landing gear and propeller have been added. I decided to mount the model on a base, despite the banana. I used guitar string to detail the landing gear. It's really amazing how these diagonal bits of wire strengthened this assembly. The base is the same basic one I use for some of my 1/50 armor models. All the inner panels of the base have been backed with corrugated cardboard. The groundwork is a simple oval shape cut from beer coasters. I painted it with a couple of shades of brown acrylic, brushed on a liberal coat of acrylic matte medium, and then piled on the static grass. I pressed down lightly with my fingertips, and after a few minutes blew across it to remove the excess, and make the remaining grass stand up. I added a few foam "flowers", and then glued the aircraft onto its forever home. My model club is having its Christmas (or holiday, if you prefer) party tonight, and I'll debut it there. Except for the banana, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Thank you, Alcides for a great kit.

I expected such an impressive result! A magnificent job both on the plane and at the base Don.

Many thanks Sergio, Ray, and Don. I very much enjoyed this build. I have a hankerin' to build another WWI bird, but I'm torn on what to do next - I have 2 in the queue that I'm doing some mild Photoshop work on. One is a Nieuport 11 (Keffen Rockwell livery), and the other one is an Oeffag D.III (Austrian built Albatross).
