Mig 21 BIS take 3
The mig 21 is without doubt the most produced supersonic fighter in the world as 11800 were built without taking the fact that China produced at least another 2000 with the F-7 version that was based on early mig 21 versions. Even today after 60 years since entering service it is serving in 15 different airforces !!!
Such a longevity is attributed to a basic good design ! The BIS version shown here had a powerful 7.5 ton thrust engine and a larger fuel capacity in the upper dorsal spine. Mach 2.05 at hight and 1.06 at low level with a climb of 40k feet per min ! Also the radar and avionics were improved. The Romanian airforce upgraded his mig 21 force by mainly improved avionics and so did the Indian airforce with the Bison version with Israeli Elta radar and avionics upgrades. Because it is a relatively not expensive fighter to maintain it will reamain in service for the next few years . The type is taken from a Russian author and was scaled down to 1:48 scale from 1:33.
