Looking at the canopy I'm guessing Mig-17 is very extensive repaint of Maly Modelarz Mig-17/Lim-6?Very interesting,I did that kit and except for air intake I found it excellent.

Very nice work."Foes paired up" display idea is something worth looking into.Thank you.

Mirage IIIc vs SU 7 Fitter

The first encounter with the SU 7 was in the Six day war in June 1967.
The mirage pilots were briefed to take caution when dealimg with the big fighter.
The SU 7 came to bomb targets in Sinai peninsula and when mirage fighters scrambled to interceot them they opened the big AL 7 engine afterburner and headed back to Egypt direction West. The mirages started the chase full afterburner over the Sinai dunes ,
Slowly the mirage close the gap at around 700 knots supersonic very low a small burst of 30 mm guns blow up the SU 7 and thats the typical end of another one.
The SU 7 is from the Israeli airforce magazine.

Mirage IIIc with French brothers

The Mirage 3 was a big achievment to the French aeronautic industry. But we canot forget that French at the 1950s was the land of prototypes.
Many promising designs came to flight status but not into production.
Such where the Nord Griffon 1500 and Trident II 9050.Since they had hybrid propolsion system they had brilliant performance with the ramjet or rocket engines working.
Since the Mirage 3 had almost the same performance and was much conventional design it won the go ahead and the two projects were abandoned.

Nord griffon 1500 vs sa 9050 trident

Dear All,

Two French experimental planes from the fifties.
During the fifties France was called "LAND OF THE PROTOTYPES".
The reason was because many prototypes of jet aircraft reached flight status , some with excellent results but they never reached operational status mainly due to financial problems.
Europe nations had a strong fear at the time from Russian bombers that will penetrate their air defenses and bomb cities with atomic bombs.
The answer at the time was to create an interceptor that will be fast and with high rate of climb that will carry air to air missile that was designed to hit the bombers before they could reach their targets.
The Trident was powered by two rocket engines with two auxiliary jets at the wings edges while the nord griffon used a ramjet engine around atar turbojet.
Both experimental planes has an astonishing performance in terms of speed and rate of climb -mach 2 and 3 minutes to 50000 feet.
At the end it was decided to go instead on the Mirage III as it was more conventional and far less expansive to put into service.

Mirage IIIc vs Skyray F-4D

You would ask what a mach 2.2 fighter has to do with a barely Supersonic mach 1.1 fighter !
Well the answer lays on the questions.
The Skyray recieved in 1955 the J57P20 engine with dry thrust of 5.2 - 7.25 ton in AB.The only drawbackwas the engine weight of almost 2 tons.
With this engine the Skyray had the top speed of 0.96 mach low and 1.08 mach at 12 km hight.
The mirage 3 first flight in 1957 had the Snecma atar 9B with 4.3 - 6.1 ton thrust in AB. Top speed at low level mach 1.15 - 2.15 at 12 km.
Why the lower spec engine has twice the Speed - how come ?
The answer can be seen when the two stand close to each other. The Skyray has a very Fat bat wing design with a lot of drag .We can call him the NAVY harmonious drag master. One pilot joked that the Skyray will do 1.1 mach straight up and down.
The mirage is the very opposit - area ruled shaped body and very thin but strong wings along with a streamed lined body with an execellent supersonic go !!!
The Skyray could climb faster but had a bad flying virtues such as nose tuck down and up when crossing mach 0.9 mach back and fourth - very bad and limitting feature of flight virteus.
All in all the mirage proved that with a slim fugelage and small frontal area drag You can achieve very high performance with a relatively low power engine.

Mirage IIIc and IAF

The mirage IIIc and the Israeli air-force are love story. No other fighter earn such a love from his pilots as the mirage IIIc in the IAF. As Israeli pilots used to say , it took some time but after a while when they learn to exploite it the max. It was a dream to fly. No other plane in the IAF had so many kills as the Mirage. The mirage huge success in the six day war paved the way for Dassault to sell it over the world.

The model here is the repainted Mali model with clear cockpit and squadron 101
sign on the tail and 3 kills of Arab Mig fighters painted.
