Hi Erik - I am doing the build of couple of models into one for some years. The main thing is to add a cocpit that is missing in the type that is currently under build.
The WHM Draken that I posted two weeks ago is a fine example. With the mali mirage I also took the afterburner section from Yoav because it is much better. All you need to take care is to be on the same scale as mine is only 1:48. The print in most cases is on A4 pages. Another benefit of 1:48 scale is that it can be compared with platic models of 1:48 scale. Yair |

Mirage IIIc build diary continue
I already completed the mali mirage IIIc.
This model was designed by mali in 1965 so I tried to add a genuine cocpit and afterburner both taken from Yoav Hozmi execellent Mirage. Thier are some mistakes with the labeling in some places but the basic lines are fine in my eyes - will contiue. Yair |

Mirage IIIc vs Mig 21 f-13
Now when the mirage is done I can pose it next to the mig 21 f-13.
The two were the classic enemies as they had very close flight envelopes and almost simillar performance. Prior to the Six day war 6 Syrian mig 21 were shut down by mirages and another 12 in war itself. The mirage story in the IAF is amazing as all the pilots who flew it loved it. I will elaborate on that later. Yair |

Is the Mig-21 the same that you built in 2016 here? There you said the MiG is from Ecardmodels ... but who is the designer/publisher? Thanks, Gene K |

Yes it is the same one - the designer was Nobi from Thai models but I bought it from Ecardsmodels at the time.
Currently it is no longer available there ! Yair |

Yes,that's yet another of Nobi models we can't buy and hardly anyone knows about.
I would love to grab both Mig-15 set and 21 preferably in silver, clean version or something I can turn into one. |

the guys haven't gotten around to relisting Nobi's older kits if you want the model, you can send Nobi a private message here on the forum, asking to buy a copy Rick

Mirage IIIc vs Mig -19
The middle east wars of Israel and the Arab countries created a ground to all kind of dogfights between multiple types of planes. The first encounter between the two was in November 1966 when a single mirage downed 2 mig -19 one with guns and a second with a matra 530 that flew like a rocket and blown the mig 19 to pieces. In the 1967 Six day war no less than 16 mig -19 were shut down all by mirages.
The Israeli pilots found the mig 19 no match against the mirage and easyer to shut down than both the agile mig-17 and speedy mig -21. The mig -19 despite trio guns of 30 mm was lacking in manuverability ! After the Six day war the -19 almost disappear from the war theater ! The mig is from Gpm 120 reduced to 1:48 scale. Yair |

Mirage IIIc vs Mig -17
The American pilots in Vietnam met the mig -17 and found it a very capable fighter. The mig -17 was perfect for hit and run tactics - when they shut down two f-105 Thuds loaded with bombs there was a big noise in the media how such a subsonic and old plane can bring down mach 2.0 plane.
The Israeli airforce consisted of Super mysters and mirage IIIc for interception. The Israelien pilots found the mig-17 harder to beat than the mig-19 and 21! While the mig -17 couldn't go supersonic it had the best turn rate of all planes in speeds up to 400 knots ! Most of of air battles are carried with speeds between 350 -550 knots. Here the Israeliens had a clear advantage because they were trained with many training dogfights and learn to aim the pipper on the target two seconds which were enough to get a kill with the excellent 30 mm french guns. Just like the american Thud pilots the Israelien pilots avoided turns fights and used the vertical dimention and better speed to win the battle. The results were stunning - the kill ratio of the mirage vs the mig -17 was 1:15 !!! and far better than what the american Phantoms had in Vietnam which was 1:3 against the mig -17. In Yom kippor War in 1973 two Phantoms killed 7 mig -17 whitin 10 minutes. Yair |
