A comment on the model. The original WHV P1B Lightning was published by Lehrnittelinstitut as #1624, in 1:50 scale in February of 1958. It soon went out of print and became very scarce. It was re-issued by the Israeli Defense Force in the magazine of the Israeli Air Force, magazine issue number 62 (per a listing I got from Moshe). I am presuming this is a P1B as well, but am not sure.

Then much more recently, in 2015, the current WHV publisher issued the revised version as the Lightning F1, which remains for sale on the WHV website and elsewhere now, also as order # 1624. I am not clear what the differences are between the original P1B and the re-issued F1 models are, as I have not had the chance to compare them side by side. Has anyone else following this thread?

Dear Rob - what you already told us is true. The model was published in the IAF mazaine in 1963.
As for me the type released was the Lightning prototype so in order to convert it
I will add the typical belly tank exclude the pitot on the radar cone and add a transparant cocpit.
The Lightning is one of my favorits mach 2.0 fighters and his main essue was the short range due to the two gas guzzlers Avon engines and lack of fuel tanks space.

Another small step with this bird - the front is completed. Now the next thing is the cocpit cell. Then the fuselage will be glued and wings will be added. There is no need to mold a vacoforn canopy here.

After the Alfa Jet is done I am now continuing with the Lightning. The frames for the wings are very important here for accurate positioning.

Some small progress with the wing frames
which are very important here.

The wings were glued to the fuselage and since they are huge it's impotant to have a tight fit and the slits at the dorsal spine help to avoid gaps. Now the rear stabiliezers and tail are next.

The horizontal stabiliezers and tail were added and the Lightning started to get his typical shape. The front section is still seperated from fuselage and will be connected after the cocpit will be completed.
