Philippe Rennesson's Caudron 362@ 1/72
Hello and Happy New Year to all!
I`ve just finished this small and very appealing kit from Philippe Rennesson's free collection. This is the first of his Caudron's racer plane selection, and I printed it right away when he released it some years ago but didn't decide to tackle with it up to now. As an Herge reader in my youth, this racer had a big recall to me, I couldn't but remember Herge's Stratoneff prototype and its adventures. And finally, here it is: |

The model was slightly downscaled from its original 1/66th to 1/72nd to match with my other builds. The kit has very few parts but is remarkably detailed, and having internal bulkheads, also rather sturdy.
The cockpit's canopy was slightly crushed during assembly, this was due to being attached to the fuselage skin and that I weakened this part by removing the window panes and attached an internal paneling. My first intention was to remove it, print it again and go ahead, but as I noticed that Philippe had improve the Caudron in his later designs: rearranging the bulkheads, detaching the canopy from the fuselage and providing some internal details, my last choice was to finish this as a test build, and print one of his latest Caudrons (the 450 was my choice) for the definite build. |

Hello,
seeing my models mounted is, for me, a great sign of encouragement. Often (and this is normal) they are reduced to 1/72 which is usually not a problem. your comments present a particular interest to me and rest assured that I take them into account when I design my models. Racing Caudron are ones of the most difficult models to draw, especially if you want to respect at best (paper doesn't allow everything) their aerodynamic finesse which was the obsession of their creator Marcel Riffard. I'm passionate about the Caudron racing planes and I hope to propose soon, all the versions of the Caudron planes which took part in the famous French Deutsch de la Meurthe cups. And always free downlable. In the meantime, a big thank you for your interest in my creations and I wish you an excellent year 2020 with a lot of paper models. Le Criquet |
