Super Etendard in Falklands, May 4,1982, NOBI designs, in 1/100
Between 1980 and 81 Argentina received 5 Super Etendart with 5 Exocet AM-39.
They were assigned to the second aircraft hunting and attack squadron to operate from the ARA aircraft carrier May 25. At the outbreak of the 82nd conflict the Super Etendart-Exocet system still It was not fully operational. When France suspended technical assistance, it was thought that Argentina was not in a position to use this aircraft-missile duo.But Argentine technicians were able and this system was operational. This was demonstrated on May 4, 82 when the 3-A-202 piloted by Augusto Bedacarratz and the 3-A-204 by his numeral Armando Mayora launched their Exocet AM 39 against the Type 42 HMS Sheffield destroyer, a missile hit the ship causing a fire that left out of combat to the ship that days later sinks in the cold waters. But all the credit is not to be given only to the Super Etendart, a P2 Neptune was many hours in the air, located the fleet and guided the couple the planes and towards its target. Equally important was the KC-130 Hercules that refueling aircraft. This attack was a surprise that alerted the fleet to the point that it planned to destroy the Super Etendart on land by means of special forces without success, the helicopter that transported them had to deviate to Chile. The Atlantic Conveyor also succumbed to this duo and here although it is assured that in a combined attack next to A-4 the Invincible was damaged this was always denied by the British. History of the Super Etendart in Falklands. Thanks to Gary (MacSongLi) I was able to recreate both planes. Gary made some changes to NOBI's drawings, numbering, silhouettes of blank ships, the metal ring on the nose, the ARA inscription May 25 in the queue and the warning of the air intakes, although the latter were far behind and I had to make others and put them in their place.Mil thanks Gary, thanks a lot NOBI.Here a bit of the process. |

Hi Sergio - your Super Etendard is looking great !
As much as I like the Skyhawk as it served in the IAF between 1967 - 2016 for almost 50 years I must admit that the elegant lines of the Super Etendard are superior by far !!! Yair |

Looks like a great model but you have to find some way of making better pictures.I'm not sure if this is camera lens that is foggy/dirty or low light bustling up focus.
Even so/so model can benefit from well made pictures ,good model will shine. |

Equally important was the KC-130 Hercules that refueling aircraft. Very good work on those SuperEtendards!!!! Keep on going with those Malvinas/Falklands planes. I did a recolor of the Lockheed P-2 Neptune in Argentinian scheme. For those who missed the first time, here are they again. I upscaled to 1/150 without problem but no longer I have it. I give it as a gift for one of my students. The C-130 Hercules is at about 60% advance in the recolor. Regards,Tony. |

Thank you very much. I notice the photos as if it were foggy, I don't know why, the same photos I upload to the Spanish forum and they look good, it's strange. Tony, thank you very much, I already have them and on the next visit to the copy center they will be at list.In every conflict there are many machines that were fundamental and the importance they had is not known.

these 3 aircraft look excellent! I read some general accounts of the falklands conflict and from the accounts in the naval airpower at sea book the british were very lucky that their losses were not more severe.
I have the Bruno and Nobi super etendard kits that are on the "to do" list. |

Thank you very much! If Argentina had had the 14 planes and its Exocet at that time the British fleet might have had more losses. The remaining 9 planes arrived after the conflict. I borrowed another cell phone and got some sharper photos.
