FJ-4B Fury Murphs models 1:48 build

The wings are tested for how they fit to the fuselage before mounting to the body.

FJ-4B Fury Murphs models 1:48 build

Dear All - I like the color scheme of that model very much. The wings were glued to the body and the tail section as well including the dorsal spine. Somehow Yoav from our Israeli paper forum located a froblem in the aft section of the fuselage that was canted down too much. By carefuly cutting some area on the connection of the yellow part to the grey one the problem was resolved and the tail seats at right angel now. The pilot compartment needs to be completed and that's it.

FJ-4B Fury vs F86 F Sabre

As opose to other Sabre types the Fury FJ-4 is a totaly new plane and not just an upgrade. The FJ-4 is sligtly shorter and has a deeper fuselage with 50% more fuel. The wings are thiner , a dorsal spine was added and the pilot compartment was raised to give a better view for the pilot during carrier operations. The air intake is bigger becaue of the J65 thrust of 7700 lb instead of the 6200 lb of the J47 . Only 370 were built and they served in the MARINES as well. The range was almost dubled and the so the load capacity of some 4500lb.
The shape of the wings and the tail shape and horizontal stabiliezers was changed. The tail was enlarged and is higher to give better stability at high mach numbers - limit mach number in a dive was around mach 1.15.
The B was an improved attack version that could carry 4 of the useless bullpap missile.
Again when Vietnam war started the type was phased out of service and missed the war .

The RAF Sabre was released in Ecard models some 5 years ago.
The Sabre served in the RAF as an interim fighter until the Hunter came into service and were phased out quickly when the Hunter entered service.
The Sabre service with the RAF was short and full with accidents !!!
After service with the RAF many were sold to former Yeguslavia at a bargain price !!!

FJ -4B MURPHS-MODELS 1:48 vs Mystere IV IAF

The two were born at the mid 1950's. Both are called type 4 which means advanced series.
While the Mystere is slightly bigger plane in length 12.9 meter vs 11.4 meter of the Fury the last did a better job in internal fuel tanks capacity and load taking capability - 4500lb against only 2000 for the Mystere. At low level the Mystere can do 696 mph while the Fury 680 mph while at 36k feet max level speed is around 0.94 mach. Max dive mach number is 1.15 and rate of climb around 9 k feet .
The Fury had 4 x 20 mm guns while the Mystere 2 x30 mm guns.
The Fury could carry early series Sidewinder air to air while the Mystere couldn't. The Mystere service in the IAF was full with war activity and he downed around 10 mig 15 ,17 and one Jordanian Hunter.Service was between 1956 - 1971.
The Fury service was in the silent decade between 1955 to 1965 so he didn't participated in Korea or Cietnam wars and never fired in anger .
Production was 370 Fury and 420 for the Mystere . The Fury served in the US navy and marines while the Mystere IV in France Israel and India.

FJ-4B Fury vs Mig -17 Fresco

The two are from the same era of the mid 1950's. Of course the FJ-4B was produced insmall numbers of 370 vs maybe 10000
Mig -17's. When the Vietnam war showed how nuch dangerous this plane can be in tight dogfights they use the Fury to simulate dogfights against Mig -17's because of rhe performance similarity of the two. The Mig -17 had the VK1 engine with an AB while the Fury didn't.
The Mig- ŕ17 therefor was faster at low level with 710 mph va 680 of the Fury. While the length was close the Fury had bigger wings.
The Fury had a mach 1.15 limit while the mig -17 was barely able to break the sound barrier with the most stipper dive.
The Fury served in the NAVY and MARINES while the Mig -17 was serving in countles number of airforces.
