Some more images of the FJ -4B Fury - a small pitot tube was added to the starboard wing and was not included with the model.

FJ-4B Fury Murphs models 1:48 vs F9F-8 Cougar Geli 1:48

Both planes served in the NAVY from 1955 on. The Cougar was the main US NAVY fighter during the mid 1950's and numerically was the most widespread. The Fury was a more modern design but also bypassed by the Skyhawkfor example. In terms of performance the Fury was the better in speed climb and range.
Also the Fury lasted longer in the NAVY service and later in the ANG
while only the Cougar two seater version lasted until 1974.
Both never fire in anger because they fall in the silent period between 1955-1965.

Dear Sergio - you are right regarding the differences between
the two - the Fury is more conventional in design and the Cougar has a strange wing shape
with the dash 8.

FJ-4B Fury vs Mig -19 Farmer

In 1969 the Americans were able to put their hands on a mig-19.
While the type was not the state of the art by then it was interesting to check it against the F-4 Phantom. The Mig-19 was not a bad plan as it could accelerate from mach 0.9 to 1.2 faster than the F-4 Phantom. The 3x30mm NR guns were having a strong kinetic energy punch and it could out turn the F-4. The main problem was the very short range
while in a dogfight with AB as after a few minutes with it's two gas guzlers RD-9 engines in AB it was almost fuel empty as it was proved in 1972 linebaker operation as a couple of mig-19's
crashed as fuel run out.
The Fury was by then choosed to simulate Mig -19 vs Phantoms as it was close in general performance bar very fast flight capability. The Fury had long range compared with the Mig -19.

Mig-19 was point (area) interceptor.Russians build few fighters of this class over the decades and I can't think of US equivalent.

Good old Mig-3 was good example of a fighter of this class. So were first models of Mig-21.

Nice line-ups.Can you make few pictures from eye level rather than just top views?
