Cool Crimson sky Devestator

It has been close to 10 years since I originally started looking for paper models of the airplanes in the Crimson Sky video game I played on the original X box.

Crimson sky planes

I finally got a link ( with some extra steps ) for two of the models. One is the dirigible Pandora, and the other for the Devestator aircraft.

http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/698147-post11.html

The files for both reside on an archive site for the now defunct web site gearz.id.au,

, but there is a way to resurrect it as was shown in the thread :
https://web.archive.org/web/20091014....id.au/cs.html

The above link should bring you to a download page for both.
It states that it was designed by gearz.au ( I assume an Australian company; The site is no longer available and is only archived.

I don't know who the designer is or if the file is copyrighted, but it would be nice if it would be uploaded here on our site as well. maybe one of the Admins can chime in.

There are two pdf files. One is painted and the other is a blank version if you wish to repaint it.

The only strange thing is that the parts are on an 18x23.3 inch paper size, so it really does not fit any printer I have ( sort of a B2 size ).

so if you print it, you can choose a fit option to your paper, or in my case, I reduced it to 50% to get is a big as possible on US letter size. The scale for this fantasy model appears around 1/33 or 1/30 scale or so.
The file does not state the scale.

Here is the first instruction page.

Does anyone know Gearz?? or get in touch with him ( assuming he is alive ).

Lets see if we can upload his files of the Crimson Sky models here on our Download section if he agrees.

Exclamation Fuselage

Kit description:

The design is straight forward and is easy to build.

-Fuselage is cones and cylinders.
-Engine and props are in the back ( pusher configuration ).
-Bi- plane wings are simple with ailerons on the top wings.
-Canard as an elevator.

no landing gear.

So here we go.

Fuselage:
Forward part is sort of rounded nose, while the rest is rounded sections.

The center section will support the upper and lower wing spars.

add the upper and lower parts for the spars to form I beams

Exclamation Engine cowl

The design is a rear engine type. Of interest to me is that it sort of looks like a P-47 WW2 fighter engine cowl.

Parts are simple and the fit is OK.

Exclamation Lower wings

The lower wings are similar, but lack separate control surfaces.

Construction and assembly are same as top wings.

Exclamation Canards

Elevator surfaces in front. Called canards ( in French it means a duck; long neck makes the plane look like it is similar to a duck ).

fold over and insert over the wood toothpick I used for a spar instead of the card part.
