A-4 Skyhawk build diary contiued

The Skyhawk build is moving in a slow pace. The air intakes and the hump were completed. Next are the wings and tail.

The task of connecting the wings to the fuselage required very careful work with special jigs to align the angles correctly - I am satisfied with the final result. Next the tail section is waiting for installation.

Thumbs up

Just to give a bit more on this variant of the Skyhawk. It is an A-4L which is a modified A-4C that the US Marines used. Uprated engine ( still not the J-52 as in the A-4E/F and later ) , added hump for the additional avionics and modified flaps

The nose is also shorter compared to the later version of the A-4N used later on including the IAF. Canopy is also different.

I did get to see this variant being restored years ago in one of the Cincinnati area airport in Ohio. Not sure if they finished it. Pics taken in 2007.

Dear Isaac - thanks for the information regarding the type.
The NAVY Skyhawk will be added to my fleet of naval aviation jets along with the F2H -2 Banshee that I already started to Build.

Yair,

You're doing a great job, there are some very challenging shapes when you look at this aircraft.

Gary and Sergio - this is not an easy plane for two main reasons -
There are some problems with the fuslage parts assemble and the mounting of the main wings was
requiring to cut the bottom white area. Considering that the type was released in mid 90's I am satisfied with the results.
