F-100 Super Sabre vs Super Mystere B2

Around 1960 an american journalist visited Israelן air force base with a host of course.
While they were close to a hangar he saw jets with big oval intakes in the nose.
He called his host and said "I didn't know that you have Super Sabres ". His host half
smiling answered " Yes these are super but super mysteres- our new supersonic fighter ".
Well, you couldn't blame much the journalist as the super mystere has a strong similarity
with the first american super sonic fighter the F-100 super Sabre.
Even during the operational service years there was similarity as both started life as
interceptors and later as a ground support fighters.
In order to achieve super sonic speed in a level flight each plane had an engine with an after burner.
The f-100 had J57 and the super mystere atar 101G.
F-100 was called " HUN " - short of 100 and the super mystere B 2 was called " sambad " - super mystere b douxe which is two in french.
While the f-100 served till 1977 with the american national guard the Sambad was sold by Israel in 1975 as the Israeli Sa'ar converted version to Honduras and served there until 1994.

The F-100 got extra scrutiny during the design phase. The pilot who actually flew the plane represented, Don Schmenk, commissioned it, and even sent me a plastic model with the picture of the plane on the box (and all the decals).

F-100D Super Sabre vs Mig -19C vs Super Mystere B2

A trio of first generation supersonic fighters . All started the combat service from 1956 -1957 time frame.
The most produced was the Mig -19 with at least 6000 including the production in China Poland and Checzh republic. The Super Sabre with 2200 of all versions and Super Mystere only 190.
Later a more deeper review about them will be given.
The F-100 is from Murph's models the mig -19 is from GPM and Super Mystere - Sa'ar from Yoav .
All models are in 1:48 scale.

First we need to understand that while some 2200 SUPER Sabre's were built from all types the Super Mystere was built in a much smaller scale -180 for the french and IAF.
The french firm Dassault was able to take the Americans f-84 f-86 and f-100 and to create a very competitive french design that in some cases were even better than the american original.
The F-100 first flew in 1953 while the Super Mystere in 1955.
The F-100 had 4 models A , C, D and two seater F.
The Super Mystere had only the B2 while the B4 which had better speed and rate of climb never reached production ( mach 1.4 and 25000 feet per min initial climb).
The main combat of the F-100 was in south Vietnam were he served as an flying artillery with napalm bombs , conventional bombs and 2.75 inch rockets beside the 4×20 mm guns.
In this role it was quite successful. The north Vietnam was left for the f-105 thud to deal with.
In the air to air only a one kill of Mig 17 is credited to the f-100. The f-105 had 27 Mig 17 kills
for instance.
Also , the f-100 landings were at high speed and dangerous ( in you tube there is a video that shows the "snake dance" problem during landings ).
Therefore many f-100 had fatal accidents.
The Super Mystere of the IAF service is full with combat activity.
At the first years until the arrival of the mirages it served as an interceptor.
Later it served as a fighter bomber and toward the end of the service was upgraded to
the SA'AR version and proved very successful in YOM KIPPER war in 1973 .
In air to air battles the Super Mystere killd 3 mig 17 , two IL 14 transports planes and the greatest achievement of downing two Syrian Mig 21.
Also, the SA'AR version was sold to Honduras where it was very popular by it's pilots.
It is important to remark that both served in the French air force but I didn't have enough
information about this combined service .
