Hi Sergio - the Skyhawk was a very effective fighter - small but can carry heavy loads of all kinds
of weapons and on top of that very agile with the powerfull upgraded J52 P408 engine of 5.1 ton thrust. It gave a hard time to F-14 and F-15 pilots in agressor simulated dogfights at Nelis air force base in Nevada. Yair |

Super Sabre vs Skyhawk imges
The Skyhawk has a much smaller frame because of smaller length but mainly due to it 's much smaller wings in compare to the Super Sabre - a feature that is very important for attack plane.
The Skyhawk is from Fly Model and scale is 1:48 and the same as the Super Sabre . Yair |

F-100D vs F11F Tiger - Supersonic design
The Super Sabre was able to attain Supersonic speed mainly because of powerful J57 engine and sleek lines while the Tiger was the first to adapt the area rule
Of NASA where the fuselage had a Coca cola bottle shape in order to have less drag when moving from transonic to Supersonic speed. The tiger could achieve the same performance with the J65 engine that had a thrust of 4.6 ton vs 7.2 of the J57 that the Super Sabre needed for similar performance. They had one thing in common - they both served 12 years each in aerobatic teams from 1957 -1969 the Super Sabre with the Thunderbirds and Tiger with the Blue angels. The Tiger model is from Stalhardt models and was enlarged from 1:60 to 1:48. Yair |

F-100D Super Sabre vs Sokhoi Su -7B - hard landings
The F-100D was specially designed as an attack fighter and started to get into service in 1957.
The model was equipped with Toss bombing system that allowed to carry tactical atomic bomb of 20K TNT or about the Hiroshima size bomb. The SU-7B was a russian fighter that was developed as a fighter bomber and being equipped with powerful AL -7 engine had very high penetration speed while bombing and after. Both planes had a clear problem related to landings. Both had very high speed especially the SU-7B of up to 360 kph !!! Combine this with a bad vision out and no landing assist systems and a very bad result of landing crashes come into mind. The F-100 didn't fare better here because of the famous "snake dancing" phenomena which resulted in many accidents during landings. From 2200 built more than half or around 1200 were destroyed in all kind of accidents. Both had to use a big parashoot in order to stop the landing run in reasonable distance. The Sokhoi model is from IAF magazine and I upscaled it to 1:48 scale. Yair |

F-100D vs A-5 Fantan
The Fantan was basically a Mig -19 that was adapted to an attack plane and since this is exactly what the Super Sabre mission in Vietnan I pose both of them side by side and each.
The Fantan is an old hoby model from mid 90's and Super Sabre from Murph's models - both models are in 1:48 scale. |

What stress the pilots would have endured when landing these beasts! Other interesting Yair comparisons.
