Dear Don - Thanks ! - I am fine with the model as it is accurate because of computer aided design.

F-84E Thunderjet 1:48 build diary - done
The Thunderjet is done. While this model is simple to build it represents quite well the Thunderjet lines. Soon I will compare it to it's principle rivals
from the same era. Yair |

Very nice. Always liked the lines of this plane. I have Bruno's 1/100 f-84. I hope it comes out as nice as yours.

Thunderjet vs Ouragan
By the time the F-84 Thunderjet was already in service the Ouragan only was drawn on the design board. The Thunderjet entered service in 1948 while the Ouragan only in 1952.
In terms of design both planes are looking very similar - round fuselage with circular air intake with splitter in the front that supplied the amount of air needed for the AFT located engine. Both types had manual cables for moving the control surfaces - something that required more force from the pilots when there was a need to pull the stick from a dive for instance. For every Ouragan that was built some 20 Thunderjets were built ( 350 vs 7000). Yair |

It turned out very well. I think I would like to try to build this model some day. You have been an inspiration.

Don Hi - I wanted to build it for a long time but always skipped on it.
I must say that it came quite nicely and I can compare it to other planes of the same era. Yair |

F-84E Thunderjet 1:48 vs MD 450 Ouragan images
While both are not looking exactly the same undernith they are very much the same design. The main differance is the engine jet type - J35 in the Thunderjet which is axial flow and RR nene which is centrifogal in the Ouragan .
Even the bomb load in both is 2000 kg. More simillarities - the main wings are swept up in both and pitot location in the same position in the front air intake. Yair |

F-84E Thunderjet 1:48 with other American Jets in Korea
The F-84 fought in Korea war with the F-86 Sabre under USAF power but at the same time the NAVY also had the F9F Panther and F2H-2 Banshee that also participated at the war.
A group images of them all in 1:48 scale. Yair |
