1/144 Ki-51, 27th Hikosentai

Here is the other kit I was working on. It is a Scissors and Planes kit, repainted by me.
I was inspired to do this, after seeing a workbench review of a kit in FineScale Modeler a few months back.

According to what research I could find, this aircraft was based in Burma, and
used as an attack bomber.

There are pictures of Ki-51s with spotted/squiggle camouflage, but I could
find no definitive proof a specific pattern or colors. I would this is a possibly
accurate scheme.

I added the pitot tube, antenna cable, polished propeller front face, and a spinner turned on my motor tool.

Thanks for stopping in.

Looks fantastic! Great job.
I've always liked those earlier(pre-1941) Japanese planes like Ki-51, Ki-27 or Ki-30.

Well done!

Another wonderful model, Ray. The Ki-51 is, to my eye, one of the best-looking Japanese Army aircraft of the Pacific War. I see your usual outstanding display, as well.''

I sure hope that circumstances will permit me to see this one at Sterling this fall.

Looks great! I don't know how you build 'em so small.

Very nice, Ray. I love that paint scheme. It looks quite unique.

excellent job Ray. wish I could stay at home and model. living in this nbc suit at work is a drag. at least it will keep my weight down. but again great paint scheme and construction work!

Thank you all for your kind comments!

@CMDRTED - Ten years later, and I still remember the cumbersome, hot, uncomfortable
"NBC" chem gear we had to wear. Always 12 hrs at a time. Fortunately, there was only
one period I had to wear it for realsies. But that was another time.
