Dc-3 recoloring in realistic aluminum finish

Here is a dc-3 , an early pre war civilian variant with engines r-1820, i've been applying some textures to it.

Metal is one of the hardest colors to print, first because it's not a color but a group of similar colors arranged into very small lines, and second, when polished, you are only seen half of the color, the other half is the reflex of the environment. Here is a picture where you can see the sky and the horizont reflected on the front of the plane. Flight simulator has a special layer of texture called alpha channel to work that, but we paper modelers need to do miracles, and you plane looks good

Tail fin recolored!!! The yellow triangle is the way registration was wore by the airplanes at the time, " the c" stands for colombia

Here it is the modet without improvements to the texture, also windshield, props, engines and landing gear will be improved for this new recolor

May I make a suggestion? The gluing strips are now green. That means that even the smallest misfit will show up paifully. Wouln't a copy of the coloring of the neighbouring part be a better idea?!

you are totally right .. the only reason for those parts being green is to be easily recognizable

Beta tester Wilson Valbuena wil put together this recolored version of avianca´s dc-3, this dc-3 is different and special, it is one of the very early models with engines R-1820.
