Rigby Curtiss Hawk 75A

I just completed a recolor and build of another Rigby model. This time the Curtiss Hawk model 75A, originally published nationwide in the color Sunday funnies, December 15, 1940. The Hawk was used by many countries before and during WWII so I had a bunch of liveries to choose from. I decided to do this one as a Vichy French fighter - the colorful yellow and red striped cowl and tail were too hard to resist. The model went together very easily. Even the canopy fit perfectly. Rigby models weren't intended to be exact replicas of their subjects, and this one is no exception. But, you can tell at a glance that it's supposed to be a Hawk, and that's all that they were shooting for.

I want to do a couple of additional liveries before I bundle and share the model with the group. I'll definitely do a P-36 in USAAC livery, and then perhaps a British, or free French, or Finnish version. We'll see. I'm also going to include a white model with the bundle, for others who might want to recolor their own Hawk.

The first pic is the original jpeg that I worked from, and the second is an illustration of the airplane I was modeling.

Thumbs up

Well now, that looks very good. Quite colorful, too, as you stated. Good job on the recolor.

Wow, looking forward for your release. This is something I would very likely build for my Vichy collection!

Thanks fellas. I enjoyed this recolor and build very much. Hopefully the white model that I'll include in this bundle will result in some Rigby recolors by others.
