1:144 Austrian Arrows CRJ 200 - Skyline

Hello all,

I took a bit of another sabbatical from modelling, and I decided I wanted to work on something big and flashy (more news on that later). However, I need some practice, so I pulled out one of Skyline's excellent kits out of the stash, scaled it down a bit, and started cutting...

I'm quickly realising I need to invest in some slightly thinner paper for these small, but not too small birds. The normal card I use is simply too thick.

What weight card are you using? I find 65lb to be about right for 1/144.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking of getting. Currently using 120lb cover stock, which is genuinely getting hard to use for these small things.

Got some more work done. Gonna spend the next little bit designing a little cargo hold, as the smaller Skyline models never came with one and I though it might be a cool tidbit to add.

You're doing a nice job so far! I did a CRJ-200 too in 1/144 scale and it was one of the hardest builds I've ever done. Nice to see you back modeling too!

Josh, thanks for the kind words. I was about to say that the model had been a complete breeze but I almost spoke too soon. Getting the wingbox to fit at this scale with this thickness of paper took some surgery, and it barely fits. Here's a pic of most of the fuselage done.

At the end of the day though, this is just a "sharpen up skills" project more than anything else.
