Airspeed Envoy by Garry Pilsworth

Almost 2 years ago our mate decktape started build of this model in RAF colors and never finished.Driven by curiosity I printed civilian version of same model and instead of building it I shelved it.Sound familiar?I'm sure we all do it

I had few issues to resolve with this model,it was a bit harder than Anson or Electra I build previously.Note to builders-install engine nacelles on wings before installing wings onto fuselage.Model isn't exact representation of Envoy so there is a lot of room for imagination.I hope some day someone will do better model of this plane and Oxford following it.

I like it. The texturing looks effective.

The TV shows make a deal about the elliptical wings. I think on the Spitfire and the DC-3. Interesting.

Very nice model.
Why you should do the engines before. It is usually the reverse. First attache wings then engines.
Thank you for sharing.

Engine nacelles parts are thin, narrow and joined in many places to stay curved and oblong.Gluing those parts on wings without possibility of support from inside of wing is very hard if not impossible.
This is where Aaron Murphy neceles are superior design imho. They stay in shape much, much better.

As for texturing those shades are very exaggerated.Envoy was pretty smooth looking plane even with fabric covering.Look at pictures and you will hardy see a rib anywhere. Also most of wings were plywood covered and a lot thinner than in model.

Good work, Karol!

Makes me want to re-read Nevil Schute's book, Slide Rule.

You are definitely improving your workmanship. Great !!!!!!!

by the way, Deckape lives 10 minutes from me, but he has been absent from paper models . I think his Youtube channel keeps him occupied.

The Envoy looks great and I hope everyone is keeping well. Perhaps Deck Ape can visit to say he is OK sometime.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask: can someone give me a link to the Airspeed AS-6 Envoy plans or drawings, please. I am trying to build a model of this wonderful airplane from the picture. The picture is bad and I'm afraid that the shape of the model will not exactly match the shape of the original aircraft.
