Exclamation Horizontal fins

Here are the parts

spar inserted

and installed. Not the best of fits and there are no fillets, but it's OK when you step back a bit.

The fit doesn't look too bad on H Stab, Isaac. I agree, some fillets would clean it up nicely. Some shading and highlighting on the control surfaces would add some nice detailing too.

Thanks,
Gary

Regarding the control surfaces, I think the same technique of darkening them would work here as well. Maybe the designer can incorporate it into his design prior to reposting it on ecards.

Perhaps some cockpit detailing too. Maybe this aircraf needs a re-paint?

Yes, this is just a "plain vanilla" ( in blue ) rendering. It needs some little uplifting to make it a great looking model.

As a matter of fact, every new design should incorporate shading and panel rendering. The old days of mono colors should be done with. I am sure that there are others feeling the need for better art work.
Hey, but that's me talking.

Thanks

Isaac

Exclamation Wings

This is a straight wing jet, and is very simple to build
It consists of a main wing, a tip and a shoulder section. There is also a wing spar and ribs.

parts
Lavochkin La-150 1/33 scale-img_1816.jpg

inner frame. Note that the parts are really thin and flimsy. I applied CA ( super glue on their surfaces to make them stiff ).
Lavochkin La-150 1/33 scale-img_1817.jpg

The wing skin is rounded along the leading edge. I also added a folded strip just inside the trailing edge to stiffen it.
Lavochkin La-150 1/33 scale-img_1818.jpg

here is the ready wing. The small tip rib is added at this point to the wing ( not the spar ).

wings are ready to install. Again, use CA glue to join the ribs to the spar

Cool Status pics

Now that the wings are on, it looks like a plane

I remember back in the early 80's when I was active RC plane builder and flyer, I designed a pod and boom ducted fan plane that looked a bit similar ( maybe closer to a Yak-15. It was a tail dragger and sort of flew OK. It lasted a few flights only. It crashed due to a frequency interference, so I never got to improve it. It was also a bit short of thrust. I should dig up those photos.

It does look like an aircraft now. The wing joints to the fuselage look very good. I see that you use a lot of CA glue to strengthen parts. Great tip.

Thanks,
Gary

Gary

light soaking/coating structural parts in CA glue is very helpful.
