Supermarine Stranraer scratchbuild, 1:72

The Supermarine Stranraer is one of that planes that covered a necessary rol, didn't become famous, but had this "something" that made them a kind of secret favourite.
Following this "not famous" destiny, there is not a paper model of the Stranraer at any scale.
So far I have made 40+ paper models, including some redesing, so I decided to start my career of model designer with this beautifull forgotten plane.
My intention is to release this model free in this site and maybe another, dependind the rules of this place (some administrator who wants to help me with a private message, please)
Anyway, so far I have made one and part of another page. As I will be designing and assembling the model at the same time, I will end with a finished plane and you will end with a part of the WWII history.

A beautiful aircraft, and the RCAF flew them too. They were replaced by the PBY.

I look forward to seeing this project come together.

Rugged looking flying boat and a Bi-plane too.

The nearest similar plane I have seen was a restored Walrus in Australia.

Thanks, Butelczynski, gomidefilho, Gary, Dave!
Isaac, yes, The Stranraer and the Walrus were both made by Supermarine (the same people who build the Spitfire) and both were developed at the same time. It would be possible to say that the Stranraer is a two-engines Walrus, or a Walrus is a one-engine Stranraer.
MacSongLi, so far I have found 6 liveries for this plane: three metalic (including Rcaf), one camouflaged and two civilian.
I'm planing to start this thead with the metalic one I published upside, but later I'll release all of them. I'm not planning to assemble all, just the camouflaged one, but you'll have the full selection!

Wonderful project. Will certainly fill a large hole in my RCAF collection. Looking forward to seeing your work.

Comment

I note the photo of the actual plane in the calm water being re-fueled. It looks like it is about to sink. I wonder how it handled the waves during take off and landings?

Obviously it was rugged!

Anyhow, those magnificent men in their flying machines.....
